New Directions’ workshops and roundtables encourage full participation by seminar attendees. It is often said that “Rather than watch and listen, we are expected to think and do.” That’s why our training is described as highly participatory, practical and real-life based. As a participant in New Directions’ training, you will start immediately to discard old habits and learn new skills.

Our trainers share "real-life" experiences of the teams/groups they have trained and worked with and the many creative and effective ways organizations have found to involve employees to gain the most from their ideas and participation. Our non-theoretical approach provides grounded, practical ways to deal with real issues. A learner-centered atmosphere prevails. New Directions incorporates the following critical elements into training:
Opportunity to share life experiences with other adults
Control and self-direction in the learning process
Correlation between prior experience and new skill development
Active participation and opportunity to do tasks
Atmosphere that encourages contributions from participants
Practical application of new material
Repetition of information in different formats
Frequent, specific and accurate feedback
Opportunity to ask questions

Teaching methods include lecturette, group discussion, simulations, programmed instruction, games, role-play, case study, demonstration, videos, surveys and other exercises. Training is custom-designed to make certain the examples and exercises are relevant to the organization.

New Directions’ trainers are also available for public presentations at conferences, company meetings etc. on a wide range of topic areas including, but not limited to:
• Recognition and Rewards: Making a World of Difference
• Avoiding Stress and Burnout
• The New Customer
• Launching a Quality Service Initiative
• Building the Team

New Directions also supports in-house training teams with scripted modules, workbooks and PowerPoint presentations for our most popular modules. We can assist organizations desiring to set up in-house training teams by conducting Train-the-Trainer modules (both Adult Learning Theory and Presentation Skills) and certifying trainers in specialty areas.
